Ableton Live & Novation Launchpad Beatmaking Session - Moombahton

Each time we ask you what sound or genre you would like to see, then Danny has a go at making it on the fly using Ableton Live and Novation's Launchpad.

One of the most common suggestions we have been getting since starting this series is Moombahton, a bubbling concoction of the rhythms of reggaeton, squeaky synths of Dutch electro house and the hype of Bmore all slowed down to a steady marching tempo. It has risen to prominence over the past year being pushed by the likes of Dave Nada (the official founder... godfather if you like), Diplo and Dillon Francis.

As he admits in the video, this phenomenon has somewhat passed Danny by, so to everyone who suggested Moombahton... you have really thrown him in at the deepend with this one! But he loves a challenge and after a quick youtube crash course this is what he came up with... airhorns at the ready!!

I'm looking to pick the Novation soon and was just wondering when you was using a keyboard for the bassline. Is it possible to actually use the launchpad or does it go by keys?

I'm thinking of buying an Ableton controller, but I've heard the Novation controller has a bad response time. So I'm thinkin of either buying the Novation controller or saving up for an APC40. Is the APC40 worth it or should i get the Novation?
