The Dakar is not good in sand, rocks, mud, great, sand, your are going down. The problem I think is the weight, the bike have the feeling of light, cause is balanced, but as soon as the front tire twists in the sand, then you get a heavy bike going to the sides, I've fallen in deep sand about 3 times, the good thing about sand is that is soft
I wish I had videos to show where I have gone with my Dakar in the sand. Agreed that the x-challenge is better for offroad, but for the occasional trip down the dry riverbed it us hard to beat!
