A conversation between Mike and Chris in which neither is using the model of Compassionate Communication, as outlined in the Effective Conversations materials.

Back-story

The four scenarios involve an obstetrician (Chris) who has a history of conversations that trigger defensiveness / negative feelings with his/her colleague. Last Wednesday, Chris was in the operating room with a junior Nurse (Tara), and Anesthesiologist (Chester). Chris called Tara a "moronic idiot"and "worse than useless" when the instrument that he wanted was not readily available.

Both Chester and Barb approached the Medical Director (Mike) to let him know about the incident informally. There is talk of a formal grievance from the nurse.

Mike has asked Chris to come to his office for a talk.
