Colin Malakei playing the Khaen in Portland, Maine

Here there is Colin Malakei, playing the khaen instrument from the Northern Highlands of Laos. His late mother's from Dublin, and he plays Irish tunes on the khaen. Here is in downtown Portland, Maine, where we came across him playing. I wish the audio of my camera were able to capture the quality of sound he generated- it is exquisite.

nice to see the khene being played on the streets of portland. dont know if the tunes hes playing are irish,,, they sound kinda medieval or maybe hes improvising...being a diatonic instrument playing any notes with a drone sounds pretty cool,,,, thanks for postinfg
