everyone is smoking in the living room, like the good old days. Great tutorial

Had some film transferred (at another place) and many of the people's heads are cut off.

Wow, that's an awesome device. I just projected the film onto a screen and pointed my digital camcorder at the image when I captured all my mom's old reels to DVD. The quality was pretty good, but this is amazing.

This is one of the neatest things I have ever seen.

You can transfer film yourself, but the quality on the film compared to the DVD will be less. When you see the results using great equipment (the equipment in this video is nothing compared to what we use today) you will be blown away by the quality that can be captured. Compare 16mm film from say 1925 vs video we capture daily on our iphones etc, 85 year old film will blow away video captured today.

deb51185 - Very common with film transfers, it's because they are shooting off a wall and have a camcorder recording it from an angle, creating the keystone effect, therefore they have to zoom in to eliminate the black borders, cropping 30% or more of the frame.
