On December 17, 2011, Teemu Selanne of the Anaheim Ducks returned to Winnipeg, the city in which he began his storied NHL career, to face the reborn Jets. A fan favourite who never forgot the city, Selanne was enthusiastically welcomed by the otherwise relentless Winnipeg fans.

Selanne was cheered all night long (while his teammates were all booed without exception), received multiple standing ovations, and was named the game's third star, registering two assists for good measure. Nearly sixteen years after he was traded out of Winnipeg, the "Finnish Flash" finally got to say goodbye to the legions of screaming fans who never stopped cheering for him.

  • ROFL that "tiimu, tiimu, tiimu" cheer sounds like some barbarian people when they're going to burn someone to death!

  • @123goldcity Tajusit että lätkä on 100 kertaa hienompi asia kuin FPS-pelit ja klikkasit ittes tänne.

  • mite mie tulin tänne ku katoin just mw3 gamplayta??

  • @Mossberg500k Winnipeg is in Canada, not the US

  • Crowds reaction was an incredible. Winnipeg is like a big hockey family: I think they will never forget those who have sometimes supported their team. Former players are always welcome in Winnipeg.

  • a great welcome from great fans to a great sportsman & living legend !

  • @mszakacs23 As a Leafs fan, I am truly humbled by the Jets' fans respect for a former team member. It is RARE to see this. Winnipeg sets the bar: will the rest of us even come close? SO Glad the Jets are back: the NHL has NOT been the same without them.

  • @canIsubside They are idiots for not pronouncing perfect finnish? why should they? I think there's only one idiot and it's you..

  • I loved Selanne when he came to my city... and played for my team.. and I cannot imagine a city that loves him more than Winnipeg... I hope he retires here.
