@Webqom I saw your question. uncompressing can occur in any directory you wish BUT as a rule use /usr/local/src /usr/src, /usr/lib, /etc. is devoted to the running system. You can effect an entirely isolated enviornment here, so long as you "link" all paths relative to the /usr/local/src/ root, and bear in mind that there is room to be creative, No two ways are "wrong" if they work. Feel free to respond, I am glad to help if I can. I am doing the same project.

@BugsVHumans What a good tutorial! I recognize some of the language here as Malay; but your English is very articulate. I love Starship Troopers it makes a great point about picking ones' battles, but sometimes the battle chooses YOU, and I am glad for your sake that I can use this proxy info to augment (and consolidate) the function of the firewall. I know that one can use iptables and hosts.deny, but an in-navigable (unroutable) method is best, and using SELinux [ucode navigation descriptors]

Hello BugVhumans,
A few questions to clear some clouds.
1.Which folder you put the zip file in before decompressing?
2.Which version were you using? We downloaded this version: squid-3.0.STABLE8.tar.gz.

@BugsVHumans Maraming salamat sir. :D
3.Can we just use apt get for this version or we need a compiler as described in their website:

@Webqom - If apt-get doesn't give you the features that's not already included in the distribution, then you need to compile it into Squid. I think apt-get is good enough.

Sir pwede po ba to sa windows server 2008?
rainier0001 5 months ago
@rainier0001 - Unfortunately no sir, meron sarili ang Windows Server2008 na firewall nakalimutan ko na anung pangalan, you can restrict Internet access there, it's part of Small Business Server 2008 din. Or if you don't want that, just go to your router, look for Access Restrictions on specified times, it works the same. :)
