This may be cool to look at for the public, but any licensed RESPONSIBLE operatior wouldnt operate equipment like ths. VERY IRRISPONSIBLE.

Agreed about the x-ray protection. It should definitely be used.

Scatter is incredibly minimal coming off the hand. Perhaps that is why he is not using protection.

Also, x-rays are fully absorbed by the intensifier and none are being diverged beyond the intensifier.

Still, I would be pretty embarrassed not to show patient protection.

@Kimkr66 I have run across a few people who believe that DR, which this system is, requires no radiation protection measures such as shielding. This is obviously absurd and I have no idea where they became so misinformed.

@Paddywagon11 I would be much more worried about her. She appears to be younger (child bearing age) and is a female. Women have all the eggs they will have at birth so any genetic damage they take is permanent...

The thing that the AMA Guidelines require is that all instances of flouroscopy be recorded. I am not clear that a video record is being made while this demo is going on. The doctor doesn't indicate that it is - so I wonder.

@Silvercordpr Yes, definately... especially ligamentous problems in the cervical spine due to trauma. The AMA has a set of guidelines for assessing percentages of permanent disability due to translation of one vertebra over another due to ligament damage. This is because the central nervous system is affected as well as the periferral nervous system in the segment involved. Just look at all the cervical studies on utube.
