Garibaldi Diggings.

Christmas Day 2001 We made a pilgrimage to the Garibaldi Diggings the historic diggings the legacy of Italilan gold miners of over 100 years ago. The Diggings are at the top of Garibaldi gorge the gorge is on our land of 'Garrawaye Farm'. Our Great Grandfather was James Spederri who came to New Zealand from Malta and prospected for gold naming the diggings after Italian revolutionary leader Guiseppe Garibaldi.It was such a beautiful day. Greg and Paula had friends from Jasper in Tennessee Rachel & Daniel here for Christmas so was a good chance to show them our history. By the way Daniel was a gun at the backy chewing and spitting giving me a lesson. Paul and Francie on the Motor bike led the way and opened the gates. We all checked that our names were still in the hut from years ago, some new names were added. It was Charles James Garrawaye Dougherty's second christmass.he was thers with his Great grandfather aged Leo (90) his Grandfather Lawrence and Dad Stev. . Four generations of us visited this little cottage.

Yep the wee dog is Molly, I love that name would have loved a little grandaughter named Molly and also Poppy but had wee dogs named them instead. Thanks for watching, must be strange to you seeing such warm weather for christmas.
