my Dad was in one of the 1st of these studies in North Carolina. he is wondering about the Bioness 200. he is 11 years into his stroke and his hand seems to be very tight. we really wonder if this unit would do him any good
The objective is not to strengthen the weaker arm, but instead to have the patient use the arm more often spontaneously in the real-life setting. This is not the objective of most standard stroke rehabilitation programs, which try as quickly as possible to teach self-reliance, mainly with the stronger arm. The weaker arm thus often gets neglected.

Left-handed and had a stoke affecting the left hand, how unfortunate. Luckily these treatments work.

really? this is the first time doctors have realized that if you constrain the good arm the weak one will get stronger? really??? *sigh*
