I wasn't completely awoken by the pat on my arm that I got. I heard a small voice though. "Nicky. Nicky, wake up." It called to me. I blinked my eyes open. "Come on Nick, you need to get up."

I rubbed my eyes and sat up slowly. I looked to see who was standing by my bed. "Rodney?" I asked. He just stood there urging me to get up. "What time is it?"

"Nine thirty." He apologized. "Come on Nick. I don't want you to get in trouble again."

"Thanks." I whispered. Rodney left the room when he saw that I was getting up.

I looked over to my side to find Joe sleeping still. He had gone to bed the same time that I did, he just gets to sleep a little longer. I laid down my head to place a kiss to his cheek before getting out of bed. I grabbed a pair of jeans and a grey shirt to throw on. I left to start my day. Rodney had already made me a cup of coffee to wake me up fully. I sat down and enjoyed it the best I could.

My mind traced back to the night (or rather morning) before. I thought about how Kevin was probably waking up soon and reading his note. I hope doesn't try to find me. I told him Id be back. Then I remembered the story that I had made up to tell Joseph when he wakes up and asks about money. I know that there is not a single way that I was going to get out of this with being hit today. If Joe believes my story, I might be lucky enough to only get his belt for wasting the night and not making any money.

My coffee was finished. It was time to start on the morning chores. Even with the two cups of coffee I drank, I still had no energy. I had to clean the kitchen then make breakfast and clean up and do all the dishes. We don't have a dish washer in the apartment, so it takes some time to finish cleaning the dishes.

I started to wipe off the counter top. I was just too tired, though. My head fell to the counter as I sat on a stool.

"Nick, don't let Joe catch you." Sam warned as he walked by with the broom.

I woke up again. This was harder than it seemed; trying to live off of two hours of sleep. There wasn't enough coffee for me to take another cup, so I went to go pour myself some orange juice. I grabbed a glass and opened the fridge. There wasn't any more orange juice. One of the kids must have drank it and didn't say anything. I was about to grab the milk before something else caught my attention. It was Joe's Whiskey bottle. It was already open and not much was missing. It couldn't hurt that much if I took a sip or two.

I poured my glass half way. Just to even smell it there, burnt my throat. I let it flow into my mouth. I tried my best to let it skip my tongue, but that didn't work. I nearly gagged. Sam watched me and laughed. I just shook it off and took another gulp. Sam turned away and continued his floor.
