The snake was ratteling its tail as a warning to the rat to stay away but the rat came closer to see what all the fucking noise was about lol

SICKDOG831 ... Pretty sure it was a Southern Pacific rattler (Crotalus oreganus helleri) as that is the most widely distributed rattler in San Diego and its pattern most closely matched the one here. The only other common one in coastal San Diego is the Red Diamondback, which I've caught plenty of and it was for sure not one of those.
