I think that the main heroism of this great night in history is how the police opened the borders for everyone, regardless of the consequences they could face.

Here in Germany we have a carefully calibrated mix of both systems, called social capitalism in a social market economy. It is much better than what they have in the USA and the former USSR, but it drifts more and more towards capitalism since we live in a globalized world. In the end it isn't perfect either.

There is no doubt that the greatest challenge for future generations is to bring on a radically new and much more sustainable approach on trade and monetary systems.

I think it's pathetic your attempts to externalize blame for what was happening with the Wall. The Wall was build because of the huge population drain in DDR - people simply running away from the commie misery and West Berlin was the easiest way out. The DDR commies build it just as it was DDR commies shooting fellow citizens for trying to breach the Wall. They sure could have been Yugoslavia style soft commies if they wanted but the were hardcore Stalinists.

Because it's an absurd comparison. AFAIK, East Berliners were not shooting hundreds rockets on the other side of the wall nor were they blowing up themselves on West Berlin buses.

The Berlin wall was meant to keep the East Berliners INside the communist prison camp.

The wall in Israel is there to keep the Palestinian terrorist filth out of Israel. Huge difference.

Let's not forget that Gorbatchev's legacy is letting the Berlin Wall fall without trying to keep the communist block together by force which is a lot considering his predecessors and successors in Kremlin, but also lies about Chernobyl, Spetsnaz massacre in Tbillisi or cutting off supplies of gas and oil in the middle of winter to Baltic countries wishing to secede from the USSR.

Reagan achievement was that he was willing to play hardball with Brezhnev or Andropov something wimp like Carter was uncapable of. I hate to lecture you on your own history but that "Gorbi hilf uns" was shouted because by the late 1980s the commies in DDR and Czechoslovakia were far more hardline than e.g. in Poland, Hungary and what was unique even in the Evil Empire aka USSR.

Gorbatchev got a Nobel Prize... well so did Arafat, Obama or Carter, IPCC and many others who did not deserved it.
