The 06 E3 trailer was meant to show off that their engine could do what was seen in the 06 trailer. The reason why they didn't have as good graphics in the game was because all those fancy things like a real-time reflection on the chief's visor just costs too much in memory. It would slow down the game too much, so they had to compromise and not use as good graphics

They've changed the graphics slightly. I think they look better now in the E3 07' trailer. Definitely HD material.

If you guys like this one you should search for "Gears Of War + Mad World." That's pretty good too.
