Elaine's advice is from someone who never served, and thus has zero first-hand perspective on service (the good and the bad - because there is bad; you can see and read about it every day). However, the videos here were made by those who did join, and are not sorry. The positive aspects of service are not "newsworthy", so you cannot see or read about them every day - instead, you can view testimonials here. Even better, find a Soldier and talk to them in person.

Notice they don't mention going into combat. What it's like to kill people, especially children and women. Or about PTSD, or the high suicide rate. Don't join, you will be sorry.
