Thanks for the info. It does make sense that the lines aren't electric, given the initial outlay. Maybe once the ridership increases, they'll consider it.

@yarmo28 1st, there's 2 tracks because there's a road on one side, & a parking lot on the other. 2ndly, the majority of the trains that go through here are faster than 125 mph, so the tracks are open much quicker than a mainline with a speed limit of 60 mph for example. The MBTA trains are maintained by the state (I think) & electric engines cost some money. Also, there are no other lines on the MBTA other than the Providence line that are electrified, so it wouldn't make sense to buy them.

@alx2925 Where and when did that happen? Somewhere in New England I'm guessing, The Acela can't go faster than 135 south of Rhode Island...

With all that traffic, why are there only two tracks? And why aren't the commuter trains electric? Wouldn't that be more cost-effective?

aint this was were that boy was hit by an acela express train goin 140 something like that anyway...................this video was added on my birthday!!!!!!!!!!!

yes it is, here is what happened, he came around the corner at 141 MPH, dumped the train, smacked him at 127 mph
