Considering I'm practically smelling the hate comments, I'll say three things that may keep them at bay:

1. This is obviously fake and everyone is aware of that. Don't point it out.
2. No one cares about your position in regards of a BR remake or remakes in general.
3. Re-read the previous two.

With that out of the way, let's begin. Okay, so I had never done this before, though I had been meaning to (I wanted an "Evangelion" live action recut), and had had this idea for a good while. I soon found that recuting these trailers is very enjoyable and somewhat easy (this is the fastest, I think, I've put a video together: only two and a half days, which is good considering how much work it is; ripping DVDs, creating titles, effects, etc., etc.).

So this is basically an imaginary trailer for a hypothetical American remake of the awesome Japanese movie "Battle Royale". Although it is one of my all time favorite movies, I'm one of the few fans, if not the only one, who thinks an American remake could be fun on a bun. In the end, I really liked the outcome with the exception of the awkward transition between the bus bits at the beginning and the island bits. Hard. Oh, and the IGN watermark, but I can't bitch too much about that. IGN is the only place where I can actually DOWNLOAD the damn trailers, so good for them. I wasn't always planning to use that Nightwish song, but I remember hearing it the first time years ago and going "OMG those lyrics totally go with BR!". Besides, I like the song. Screw yourself.

I particularly liked the title card (though the actual presentation is lackluster) and the 'Roster' effect, which I thought was a cool idea. If you're wondering whose pictures those are, it's (clockwise, starting from the top left): Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jena Malone, Owen Wilson (yearbook photo), Matthew McConaughey (yearbook photo), Kristen Bell, Teddy Dunn, Kristen Stewart and Michael Cera. Notice how the two actors among these six I dislike, are dead. LOL creative freedom.

I'm also aware that Joseph "Awesome" Gordon-Levitt isn't in this trailer at all. I was planning to use bits from "Killshot" and "Brick", but in the end couldn't. I didn't delete his name because having it anywhere makes it immediately awesome.

Enjoy.

Audio and Video Clips (see if you can catch em all):
"28 Weeks Later", "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "The Condemned", "Friday the 13th", "The Last House on the Left", "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3", "The Perfect Getaway", "She's The Man", "The Ruins", "Twilight" and "Veronica Mars".

Songs:
Slayer - "Expendable Youth" ("Seasons in the Abyss")
APM Music - "Viral Infection" ("Epic Action I")
Nightwish - "Tenth Man Down" ("Over the Hills and Far Away EP")
Mashimisi Amano/Giuseppe Verdi - "Requiem/Battle Royale Title")

  • Very nice job with this trailer!!

  • I think you did very well. Pretty great collection. I'm going to break the rules, an American Battle Royal would be fine, however, it'd have to be seemingly original and it could never call itself Battle Royal. Much like the Condemned with alterations. And I doubt it could hit that peak that BR did in terms of divine. Plus America would have to be in a state of above average government control and regulation for it to work or people would just laugh lol

  • @nosebleedfingerpaint

Nah it can't be that, the only similarity between Battle Royale and Hunger Games is the concept, hell, in hunger games they're all teenagers with different ages that don't even know each other. Besides between the two Battle Royale has a wayyyy more realistic approach to the concept alone which would be enough to entice just about everyone

  • @deltingfc i think it was actually halted because another company is making a film from the Hunger Games novels, which from what I gather, are exactly the same story as Battle Royale

  • this is a good trailer

  • im so glad this isnt a real trailer. im a huuugggee BR fan and this would have been a disappointment. T___T .........but nice try anyways

  • being a big BR fan I thought this was pretty cool! good job on the fan trailer!

  • @deltingfc I am glad that they have halted the remake. Mainly due to my general disdain of remakes. Especially the American ones of Asian movies.

  • Excellent!

  • It doesn't look like an official trailer, I think it was made by many pieces of different video
