Interesting... Here, they've carried firearms since God knows when... I have never heard of Swedish officers accidentally shooting innocent civilians... However, I HAVE heard that arming the British patrol officers has been on debate recently...

Because our coppers are hard enough without guns :) Nah... generally our police officers must undergo special training to use handguns. Its supposed to reduce the chances of them accidentally shooting innocent people.

Alright... Was just thinking about it. In Sweden, where I live, the cops always carry handguns on duty (SIG Sauer of various models)...

Because there isn't a need. There are a lot less people over here carrying guns than places like america and if there is a firearms incident, there are enough ARV's (Armed Response Vehicles) around which can respond.
