Welcome to HD, decent recording quality, saxophone solos, and my parents' conservatory. Oh yeah.

Next week's song is going to be so much fun :D

More exciting video news - I'm gonna go visit my sister and brother-in-law soon, and he has some cool audio/video recording stuff and Final Cut Pro, so we're gonna collaborate on some videos together. Also I might be playing at some open mic nights in the Brighton area, so I might even post videos of that if it happens.

Lyrics:
I've been researching the work of an artist from the United States
I wonder what thought processes go through his brain when he's painting those portraits
He's inspired by fascinating fashion illustrations straight from magazine pages
he paints their faces, faintly tracing lines that intertwine until the wasted beauty shines through

I'm telling you that I'd commission Massachusetts artist Richard Phillips
For some pop-art in acrylics, oh so hyper-realistic
of pop music personalities distinctive and artistic
paint me a picture Mr Richard Phillips

I've been amazed by his attention to detail, it's practically perfect
He constantly captures the enraptured expression of his female subject
He's inspired by the desires of humankind and designs a stylistic portrait
he paints the facial features of these fascinating creatures and the teeth they bleached are white as snow

Don't you know that I'd commission Massachusetts artist Richard Phillips
For some pop-art in acrylics, oh so hyper-realistic
of magazine celebrities distinctive and artistic
paint me a picture Mr Richard Phillips

His latest exhibition has the critics in a whirl
his artwork's even been on Gossip Girl

I'd commission Massachusetts artist Richard Phillips
For some pop-art in acrylics, oh so hyper-realistic
of political luminaries distinctive and artistic
paint me a picture Mr Richard Phillips

  • I was just reading an article about how people are starting to identify the common techniques used by 18th century artists in all their portraits, so that we can find out exactly how realistic those portraits were, and how much of them were "artistic interpretation", glossing over blemishes, wrinkles, double chins, etc.

Photoshop is nothing new, it seems. : )

  • @AquadeoEsquadat That's really interesting - that the artist would choose to alter the subject instead of portraying them how they really are. Send me a link to the article on Twitter? I'd like to read it.

  • nice instruments, colour and song :D

  • @LAURAbrap Thanks! I have a thing for over-saturated colours right now. I'm just like that :D

  • This is so cool! I love the shots of you pretending to paint, you're hilarious. :D I seriously can't wait for the next song. Stetsons. Oh yes. :)

  • @TheScarlettPeony I wear a Stetson now. Stetsons are cool.

  • The addition of saxophone jams to your stuff is fucking marvelous. You may turn out to be... earth's greatest champion.

  • Seriously though this whole concept is mind blowing, and somehow all of the songs are awesome. I tried to write a song once, it was garbage. Champion status sir.

  • I love the song and you pretending to paint :D

  • @robpannell You even get reply comments. :D

Glad you're liking it. It's gonna be great to hang out. I have a couple of ideas for videos I want to try but I don't think they're appropriate for the Stetson song. I'm hoping the next couple of articles will yield a topic I can write more dramatic songs about!

  • Woot I get a shout out!

Another top quality product. I can't wait to collaborate, and just to watch you work to be honest...
