  • Neat! What rank is this from?

  • Its a Clarabella Flute. Open wood pipes. It is of 8' pitch, but the lowest pipe is 4'. I belive this was normal practice as the orchestral flute never extends below this. It came from a 58 note manual, so there are only 46 pipes in the rank, effectively the bottom octave is not provided.

  • PLEASE be careful with this. I know of an organ builder who got lead poisoning after years of this.

  • Off wooden pipe feet?

  • Well Done!

  • A very good rendition! Great video, made me smile.

  • That was common practice about a hundred or so years ago with many organ stops. To save money, many 8' ranks only went down to 4' C. Of course, if you're good at woodworking you could copy the design and scaling and build the last octave to complete it, but then if you're trying to imitate the orchestral flute, there's no need.

  • Wood pipes, fine, I was thinking of pipes in general, which include "lead" pipes. I would feel awful if somebody made a career (lol) of playing gemshorns or such like this, and got sick.

  • intersting,, I suppose you would have made out with the rest of the organ had the pastor not come in so early??????????

  • actually, it's quite expensive
