Gillian Welch songs are like slow trains that are moving but impossible to stop. She rarely pushes tempo but there's so much energy in even these type of songs.

I'm not sure of the title, "Wayside, Back in Time" or "I wanna go Back". I'd better go check the CD case. As for the first line, "Standing on the corner". I tried that one when I was 16 and my mates just laughed at me. Maybe the time wasn't right back then.

It's a chilly day and I'm competing with a vacuum cleaner and the scooters and my hands which feel like ice blocks. I love the cold weather.

I think I can play this better, but there are moments when things hook up and I feel at one with the song so this one's going out regardless.

  • Very nice. Q: Why not use a capo like she does?

  • @johnnybjohnny There's no reason to NOT use a capo, it's just my way sometimes. Thanks for the comments.

  • Hey, man, this is a great cover! I like how you tried different rhythms and notes in the vocal. Next time, put your mouth closer to the mic so we can hear your voice better! It is really good -- I say that as someone working on my own who appreciates voices so much more now.

  • @altchang Thanks for the constructive comments. I am quite a shy performer but I love to sing.

I set the mic to pick up the ambient sound so it's about 2 metres away so it picks up the guitar and the voice.

  • Ah man. That was awesome. Ive woke the dead doing this one!

  • cheers dude!!!
