http://www.Richieharvey.blogspot.com This is a Chinese SKS and i don't know if others would be different with all the Tapco parts. Im not in anyway a gunsmith. I learned most of this from a friend. This video is only to help others out. Feel free to leave comments if i have made a mistake with words or anything else. Thanks. Also if you see my bolt carrier is polished and shinning. If you would like to know how to polish things like aluminum or types of steel and other stuff, this is how to do it. First if the material has any paint, anodizing or coated with stuff. Wear gloves when doing this. Use aircraft spray paint remover. Depending on the condition is going to depend on where to start. For example my bolt carrier had pits in it so i started with 60grit and a mouse sander.Once the pits were gone i used 120 and 220 grits also with the mouse sander before wet sanding. I used the mouse sander up to 220 grit. Then wet sanded with 320 grit up to 2,000 and then rinsed with water and dried it so it was clean. Then time for the mothers polish. Remember when wet sanding, each grit you move up you sand in the opposite direction to take out the scratches from the previous grit. You dont use much water. Just wet the sand paper. Examples for moving up grits. 220,320 or 360, 600, 800 1,000 , 1,200 , 1,500 , 2,000. Doesn't have to be exact. Just make sure you get the scraches out from the previous grit and going up to 2,000 grit for a great shine.

  • I want to buy a SKS !

I have two options Chinese Norinco at 199$

    or

    The Russian one for 259$

is there a difference in quality ?

    thanks

  • @jimprice09 Im not sure. I would check to see if they have bayonet's. mine has had the lug thing shaved off because of that weapons ban crap. the only advice i could give on that is to just check the quality. dont know.

  • ive seen people reaasemble without removing the grip, I'll be darned I cant do it

  • @BattleBornRiverRat yeah, i actually just tried to do it earlier and i couldnt do it either. It's been about 6 months or so since i have done it so it's tough.

  • Excellent video thanks helped a lot!

  • @BradenOmnicide your welcome sir. I learned most of it from a friend and then it just became repetition. I setup the camera on a couple of stools and tried to edit the video and take it slow. I noticed a couple things i didnt show very clear but im glad it helps. God Bless.

  • @jimprice09 get the russian one, its better.

  • @onslaught42 Yep helped a lot thanks!

    God Bless.

  • i think your talking about the gasblock valve meant to divert the gas to the grenade instead of the gas piston. the chinese norinco does not have this option.

  • I beileve it's just a locking mechanism for the gas tub and the spring. A friend of mine has an all original Yugo with bayonet, cleaning rod, and he has blanks for shooting his dummy grenade. He got it for just $100 years ago. Still had cosmaline on it. I don't know much about SKS's. I just know mine has the tapco conversion and have no clue what all the locking mechanism would do in the rifle's original state.
