Video shows a big male coyote. It flushed or scared two deer, which ran in opposite directions. One remained in the field, then fled. The deer in the field could be heard snorting as the coyote approached. It is very rare to photograph coyotes and deer at the same place.

This coyote was also unusual because it had only three legs. Another recording of the coyote is: Coyote 50 lb 3 leg Deer Big Rack Male Shot Kill

The rest of the video shows monster buck whitetails in the same place at a different time. They were photographed in July, when the antlers were still in velvet. Their antlers may have been much larger when fully grown. It is also very rare to film two such large deer at once.

*** Eastern coyotes are much larger than western coyotes. See the article in National Geographic (Aug. 2010) "New Beasts in the East," about Coywolves that says DNA testing shows that many of Eastern Coyotes are Wolf-Coyote hybrids. They are larger than standard coyotes and can behave like wolves.

** Coyotes can run at speeds up to 43 mph and can jump over 13 feet. Some coyotes found in the east can weight over 100 lbs and may be hybrids, such as of wolf and coyote. See

The coyote (Canis latrans) is also called the prairie wolf. It is a mammal belonging to the order carnivora and related to the domestic dog. The name coyote came from Mexican Spanish. The Latin name means barking dog. Nineteen subspecies exist. The coyote is very vocal with a number of sounds including barks, yips, whines, growls, and howls.

Coyotes can attack humans, so it may be a good idea to not stay around when a pack is howling at you. A published paper on the subject given on a government site can be found at:
http://www.sdcounty.ca.gov/awm/docs/coyoteattacks.pdf http://216.109.125.130/search/cache?ei=UTF8&p=coyote+attack+humans&ty...

Coyotes are very intelligent and are legendary creatures sometimes called tricksters. The book, Hunt for the Skinwalker, says "Long before European arrived in North America, indogenous people throughout the continent knew of Sasquatch...The Lakota Sioux...referred to Bigfoot...a Hunkpapa lakots, told Peter Matthiessen...that 'the Big may is a husband of the earth,' a being from ancient times who can take a hairy form or even change into a coyote."

** Some of the world's most awesome bucks live in Ohio. Some of its world champion bucks have Boone and Crockett scores of over 300 points. Ohio's Beatty Buck may be the (or among the) largest ever taken by a hunter. That title of the largest whitetail, ever, in the record books belongs to the "Missouri Monarch," a 333-7/8 buck found dead on the side of a road in 1982 near St. Louis. In second place is the legendary "Hole in the Horn," found dead in Ohio in 1940, however, many whitetail experts think that it is actually the largest set of whitetail deer antlers in history. It may be the most famous whitetail known.

The male white-tailed deer, or buck (Odocoileus virginianus) - normally called the whitetail), can weigh up to around 500 pounds http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cache:7cLce5HsdasJ:espn.go.com/outdoors/huntin...
and the female up to 175 pounds. A buck with 10 point antlers or a above is a trophy buck.

  • I enjoy your videos.

  • @Musilini1 Thanks

  • nice footage of the deer feeding! In which state did the filming take take place? I thought he had wonderful mass at his bases but he could have been a little wider agreed 2 1/4 to 3 year old deer at 4- 5 years of age is prime and he will still be there maybe if he survies the following rut. Nice deer and filming

  • @jae5446 Thanks. Ohio They were beautiful. Don't know if either survived. Haven't seen either, but they go to places where there is less hunting later in the year.
