U guys had a tough time, government could of done alot more for you. I'm from colchester, much respect to all of u guys, they tell us how many brave lads we lost, but never how many ppl got bad injuries cos i know it was a lot. we'll never know wot is was like without these vids.
Thanks, of course I know Colchester well, spent time at Lathbury Bks on Mersea Road. I know one soldier injured by a Russian land mine, not on a map, lost a leg, he won the George medal for his brave action that day. These are the unsung heros you talk about. thanks again.
ok, i was just thinking that the only person to get a GC on herrick 4 was cpl wright, who lead his team into an old soviet mine field to get to an injured man. just seemed a bit of a coincidence lol. either way these are the men that make the british army great: unselfish, thinking only of others
Hi, very similar events, this soldier his first name is Andrew also went into an unmarked soviet mine field when a fellow soldier and friend stood on an anti personal mine and lost his leg,
Andrew went in to help and whilst administering first aid also stood on a mine and badly injured tied a tourniquet round his own leg and continued with his first aid. He later lost his leg above the knee. I can not say if this happened on Op Herrick 4 -

hi M.Baynham, sorry wrong soldier, the one I have not named is from Lancashire. I know I
should name this unsung hero, but not without
permission, you know these guys do not go
around boasting of their deeds. I can tell
you the action and what this brave soldier did, and how he lost his own leg saving friends who had also been seriously injured
in the exact same way, but did not stop him
doing his best and duty to help his comrades.
