via TTagaris:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has made it clear earlier today that he intends to disregard Senator Dodd's hold on FISA. And because he chose the path of least resistance for it's passage, it appears we'll see a filibuster next week.

Chris Dodd will lead that effort, but he can't speak forever and will need to lateral the ball at some point if we are going to sustain a filibuster for more than 8 hours or so.

  • Don't cave Harry

  • Probably the worst part of this is that since no prosecutions are allowed, there will be no way of knowing who did what. The suits against the telecom companies etal is the only way to subpeona info on exactly what happened and who was involved, Without these suits the information stays buried.

  • We have seen the enemy and it is Reid.

  • Well, again, I agree that the legislation is awful. But if citizens don't like it, they should bring pressure to bear on their representatives. If proposed legislation has been passed out of committee, of course it should be brought to a vote. And, hopefully, defeated.

  • What is objectionable about this legistration is that it pardons phone companies for breaking the law and turning over records to the Bush administration without warrents. Anyone who breaks the law, be they goverment offical, business operation, or private citizen, must be held accountable. FISA would basically say that the phone companies can't be punished or sued for turning over records to the Nazi bastards...err, Bush administration.

  • So what is Reid doing that's objectionable? If the majority of elected officials support a piece of legislation, that's the way representative democracy works. I think FISA amendments are awful, but using procedural methods to hold up legislation and thwart a vote is objectionable.

  • Feingold for majority leader.

  • Reid is a traitor, hypocrite, and a piss poor leader of the Senate. Time for a change. RON PAUL for PRESIDENT!

  • This is the same party that presents Hillary and Obama as leaders, what a joke.
