Helen McGuinness demonstrates Hot Wax application
Advanced / Intimate Waxing
Hot wax cools on contact with the skin, contracting around the hair shaft. The hairs are then removed from the root when the hard shell of hot wax is pulled away from the skin against the direction of growth.
Main ingredients, depending on brand include beeswax, resins and other ingredients to minimise skin reactions such as azulene and vitamin E.
Tips when working
• It is best to have the client lying down for the service as this 'flattens out the area' making it easier to work more effectively
• Hard wax is applied more thickly than warm wax, but strips should be of an even thickness all round, otherwise heat may build up in an area
• If using hot / hard wax It is best to apply a strip of wax beyond the 'hairy area' you are working , in order to reduce any discomfort when flicking up the strip
• Be assertive in instructing clients on where you want them to stretch or hold
• Work quickly and efficiently to minimise discomfort
