This text is recited as the closing for the Torah service. Here, we honor the Torah and all it does for the Jewish people. We follow this by asking God to help us.

Eitz chayim hi lamachazikim ba v'tomcheha m'ushar. D'racheha darchei noam, v'chol n'tivoteha shalom. (It is a tree of life to those who hold it fast and all who support it find happiness. Its ways are ways of pleasantness and all its paths are peace.)

Hashiveinu, Adonai, eilecha v'nashuvah. (Help us to return to You, O God. Then, truly, shall we return.)

Recorded at Rodef Shalom Congregation in Pittsburgh, PA on April 15, 2009.

David Fair, soloist
Don Megahan, organ

  • You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

  • Wonderful spirtual melody! I like it better than the traditional Etz Chaim so often sung during services.

  • Indeed, this is a wonderful melody. I wouldn't say I like it better, but it's just so nice to have other melodies once in a while! This melody was composed in the 1970's, believe it or not!
