This is my 13m old son, He has some developmental delays and I am in the process of getting tests done. A developmental dr say these tics and thinks they may be seizures, but as you can see I can trigger them by opening a drawer and disturbing its contents....My question is do you think this is a form of stimming (autism) or does it look like a seizure?

  • @buddydon, he has it 100%, he has been dx several times by different dr all doing different tests all with the same conclusion. I was careful about not sharing the other dr.s opinions until they all reaxhed their own verdict, that being said he is doing amazing, he started a heavy therapy schedule at 15 months 7x a week in my home with an array of specialists and then I personally carried over what I observed them doing for an addition 25-30 hrs a week. It has been stressful and alot of work b

  • @missemzy this video was taken awhile ago and since then I have become much more educated on this matter, I would first want to tell you that since your child has had some delays that the behavior they are displaying is most likely not related to autism. The behavior Carter is displaying is called a "stim" or a self stimulating behavior, this type of behavior can be seen in all children to some extent even adults, in all ways from ones like these to behaviors as simple as hair twirling or fin

  • Well, we got answers at the Dan Marino Center...Carter was diagnosed with autism...

  • Wanted to give quick update ;) Carter is doing great his 24hr eeg came back fine! He has started early intervention and has therapy 4 times a week, speech 2x ot, and a special needs instructer. He is doing amazingly well and this behavior has stopped. He might do it once a or twice a month. He still is doing some repetitive behaviors which the therapists all seem to think is sensory based. We go to the Dan MArino Center on Wed the 21st of july so I will update after we see him.. Thanks!

  • Update,

Carter's mri came back normal and his first eeg came back normal as well. He did have a 24 hour eeg which lasted about 10 hrs and we are awaiting results!

  • @TheJambaby i hope you still have your youtube account. for sure 1000% he has autism? and if so how is he doing? i hope good. My 18 month old daughter did not do so well with some "CHAT test" they want us to further review her at some behavior test clinic then have sombody come to our house and observe her. I guess what im trying to ask is, with any treatment he is receving, in your opinion is it helping and would you recomend it? and any tips for an overly scared parent?

  • My son will be checked in a month or so I did not realize this was a type of stimming I for one love when he does this it is so cute but I GUESS it's a bad thing? He is 26 months and has already been in physical developemental occupational and speech therapy for about a year they recently took off physical therapy and added speech! HE WILL CALL ME MOM DAMN IT :-)

  • @TheJambaby it's other things she displays aswell like her lack of eye contact and repetitive behaviours but i would never want her labeled unless they were a 100% sure.... to be honest i don't think it's autism but if it is it would be high functioning as she has good speech except for the understanding of it. and is also very clever. How old is your son now ? and how is he doing ?

  • my daughter dose this when she gets excited she's 3 she had some complications at birth and had to go on ecmo t they did an MRI and found she had a stroke on the right side of her body, she has been seeing a pediatrician since she was 6 weeks old they haven't said anything about autism just she has development delays i am waiting to hear back. I was thinking she has ADHD as her dad had it as a kid but seeing this makes me wonder.

  • i think it is a normal excitement reaction

  • Do you think that possible autism could be linked to the amount of vaccinations given to babies these days?

  • he is so cute

  • Ricky laughs at odd things that normal children would not laugh at. He also makes the faces and flaps when he is excited.
