Pearsons r ranges in value from -1 to +1. The further r is from zero, the stronger the correlation.
Requirements for Pearsons r:
(1) Both variables must be scale
(2) Neither distribution should be highly skewed
(3) The relationship between the two variables must not be curvi-linear (check the scatter plot)

  • I have a question for you, if you use the R-squared value (for instance with multiple regression analysis), what are then the values for strong, moderate and weak correlation? I'm guessing that would be the square of the pearson r interpretation borders, but im not sure (like 0,3^2; 0,7^2), do you happen to know this?

  • @Tarn1968 Take heart. It is not actually confusing. you just don't have a good teacher yet. Look around on you-tube and you will find one.

  • thank you very excellent explanations.. keep it up sir
