A few people lost bets over whether this boat would ever be finished. 30 something years it stood in his backyard. As a kid I couldn't understand why his was building it out on concrete. Concrete doesn't float!?
I'd suggest he lost interest in it for a decade or two. Wasn't much building activity. Then he surprised everyone with a dash to the finish. Launched it on the upstream side of the Wororona bridge, managed to get it under the bridge. Again, more lost bets. Well played, Bravo!
