Saw this very band in the Jazz Cafe in Camden a couple of weeks ago. Very excellent indeed - the man looks good for 66 years old.

Just a superb video, and the musician credits at the end are really appreciated. We've lost so many great performers from the first British Invasion, thank God Georgie Fame is still making music on his own and with the incomparable Van Morrison.

Did you know that Georgie Fame holds a place in broadcasting history when his then manager Ronan O'Rahilly couldn't get his first record played by the BBC?

When he was also turned down by Radio Luxembourg, O'Rahilly decided to start his own radio station in order to promote the record.

The station in question was legendary offshore pirate station Radio Caroline!!

Thanks for posting this blast from the 60's. I used to enjoy GF.
Did anyone smile at that gig? Doesn't look like too much fun.

Mark, just found this on you tube! Lovely film, mate. Quite a coincidence since I only emailed you yesterday. I was in George Square in 2005 and heard two old guys talking about the gig. One said: "I thought his laddies played with him - but these guys are called Powell!" I had to try very very hard not laugh out loud. Frankie M

So glad to see some of them are still performing together. His style of music, for the pop 60's generation, was right on the cutting edge. Very, very good. Thanks so much.
