Actually, I've recently discovered that Kubrick was depicting the Dawn of Man as taking place in Mexico, not Africa - there's scientific evidence for this, within the context of the movie, for example a close-up of the ape-man's teeth shows that he couldn't have been of genus Homo. Everyone should watch the review of 2001 which confused matthew made.

This movie is 99% only landscape and crap floating in space. Nobody needs to watch it. It lacks completly story, almost no dialog and with the exception of HAL there are no characters. By the way the HAL Story contributes nothing to the story of the movie because there is none.
