Over the last two weeks, Shearwater was lucky to have been visited by Dr. Lakshmi Prasanna, who spoke on the connection between health and education from a medical perspective informed by Rudolf Steiners work. Teachers had a number of meetings with her, and there were two additional sessions attended by both teachers and parents, as well as a presentation to Year 12 students ,and private consultations. Those lucky enough to hear her speak were struck by her wisdom and insight into questions surrounding the deeper meaning of illness and well-being; and her understanding of the dynamics between rhythm, food and the internal organic processes. She is one of those rare individuals able to bring clear and lively pictures of complex, often puzzling phenomena, and make you feel as if you have really understood some things for the first time.
Dr. Lakshmi is a pediatrician (Neonatalogist). Before starting private practice, she was the HOD in CDR Apollo hospitals, Chennai. Following that she founded Little Hearts Children's Hospital in Hyderabad, India in 1997. She extended her work with high risk newborns to working with children with special needs. The focus has been on children with developmental delays and with autism spectrum disorder. She explored and practiced working with diet and life rhythms. She introduced physiotherapy, external massages and sensory integration therapy in 2000. This showed improvements in special needs children.
Dr. Lakshmi founded Saandeepani Center for Healing and Curative Education in 2004. In addition to services mentioned above, Saandeepani offers a day school for children with special needs. In Saandeepani School, trained doctors, therapists and teachers work with sensory integration, creative hand work, structured rhythmic movement, and classical music as educative tools. There are currently 22 children in the school. The first group of children in Saandeepani are entering 4th grade in 2009. She has been instrumental in evolving a practical and effective approach for autism over the past decade. Dr. Lakshmi is the President of Anthroposophical Medical Society in India, and is very well regarded across multiple geographies for her integrated approach to health. She is also the school doctor for Abbaya, a school based on the Waldorf (Steiner) Curriculum.
It is more than likely that Dr. Lakshmi will become a regular visitor to the school, so look out for notices in the school newsletter.

This video *is* egregious hippie shit, but it does not even approach the inanity of Rudolf Steiner's vision of 'education'.
What do you actually know about Lemuria, Atlantis, Ahriman, Manes, Michael, etheric bodies, The First Class, and all the rest of Rudolf Steiner's delusional rantings that inform the Waldorf curriculum?
