This is a simulation of a steel truss which hits the ground at ca 10 m/s. The impact causes large plastic strains and permanent deformation, but you can also see the elastic vibrations from the impact. (The mesh is very course and only serves as first run, but helps you understand what may happen. We will post some videos of the final simulation later). Also note that the members are joined using Bonded Contact, there is no node-to-node connectivity. This is very useful to get simulation up and running fast!

hey question i notices the mesh is really coarse. Was the mesh a structural mesh or a solid mesh?

very interesting analysis.
i see that in regions it shows RED while dropping.
have you considered if the junction breakes, will it not change the analysis?
