Hard to believe how much of a weird ass hobo he is in this clip. We are so lucky he pulled himself together to make that riff at the end into the new VH song "As Is." I think we came very close to losing this god of the guitar.

To be able to play like this, you really need to learn the modes. Remember, Ed is a classically trained pianist. Most guitarists make the mistake of only playing back and forth across the strings... they never learn how all the patterns fit together. I used to watch these Ed videos and think, "How does he know where all the notes are? Is he doing it all by ear." No. Once you learn the modes, you know the language and this kind of playing makes sense and is easy.
