It went downhill for Lemond because he didnt have EPO!

Indurain retired in 1996, the year before blood tests were instituted. Coincidence or not. I happen to think it was the latter, sure Indurain was a special talent, but Lemond was said to be the most talented rider of all time, with a VO2 Max which exceeded Indurain and Armstrong by a mile. He got cheated by less talented dopers, I'd be bitter too if I were him.

@ZQPYU There's nothing proven against Indurain, and to be fair to him he made steady progress through his career (he was good in the 89 tour, and better than Delgado in 1990), but he dominated the tour in one of cycling's most dirty periods, in which a guy with a VO2 max of 92.5 couldn't stick the pace. That's cause for some suspicion. Must recongise, however, that Mottet did well in the 91 tour, and he was another definitely clean rider.

@erolorhun I think it went downhill for him in 1991 when they hit the mountains. Indurain won the first time trial, but only a few second ahead of Greg and Greg was in yellow. If you hear him in interviews now, it seems that it was in the mountains that he noticed the speed difference from the previous year.

B.S. It went downhill for LeMond becuase he didn't put in the training time/techniques needed to win, nor did he have the correct nutritional consultation. I remember the early 90' s like it was yesterday, and yes there was doping experiments going on by a lot of riders and teams, but not by everyone and not by Indurain. When you have a rider like Miguel come along, with genetic physical superiority to even the elite cyclist, everyone ups their game and some cheat. 99-06 repeated the same.

Ok i see, thanks. If my memory serves me right he had the Maillot Jaune for a while but then his liutenant Robert Millar ended up in a crash and it all went downhill from there.
So what the hell is he saying.

He says that: "I don't feel confident at the start of the Tour, but if I see that I have good feelings in the legs I'll find confidence and motivation." He also says that losing is usual in cycling, winning often is a rarity, and he has lost in the past and, though he doesn't know if he is really ready to lose the Tour de France, he is aware that it can happen.
