Thanks to DYA for translation
The Doina is a Romanian musical tune style, having its roots in the music-laments of the Romanian shepherds.Doina is poetic and often melancholic, sometimes compared to the blues for that reason. Doinas are often played with a slow, free rhythm melody against a fast accompaniment pattern in fixed tempo, giving an overall feeling of rhythmic tension. Melodies are sometimes repeated in differing songs, and typically follow a descending pattern.
Vasile Lucaciu (January 21, 1852, Apa, Szatmár - November 29, 1922, Satu Mare) was a Romanian Greek-Catholic priest and an advocate of equal rights with the Hungarians in Transylvania.

He was a member of the National Romanian Party and a co-author of the Transylvanian Memorandum (1892).

  • Very nice. As I watched it thought of the people my government is holding illegally in Gitmo, Cuba. Maybe someday the voices of the world will speak out and hold them (Bush etc) responsible for this crime.

  • May it be so!

  • We already live in a Europe, which opens its doors ... unfortunately the Romanian videos I watched in the last days have not any subtitles or a description which support the message of the clip. Also the lyrics are never translated. So the producers limit themselves

closing their doors to world ... what you don't do. I am glad having detected your site which its beautiful spirit ... touching ... great

  • I am glad you are interested in romanian music,I have a playlist with all of them,it would be easier for you to find them.If I did not add the subtlitles inside the video, I will try to add all translations on informations about the video.Thank you for your warm appreciations.

  • Congratulation - the best what I have seen & heard on these field ... deep rooted ... deeply felt ...

A big hand especially for you too :) ... because of the subtitles and your detailed introduction!

    Do you study music ;)?

  • Thank you very much for such encouraging comment, one reason more to improve my work here.I do not study music, but architecture.

I try to do my best adding the subtitles because I am proud of romanian music and lyrics and I want to make it known to all my watchers that don't understand romanian.

  • Saint liberty with the black (A) flag! Onelove
