While I abhor sexism, I still love commercials like these, from a historical standpoint.
-
Interestingly enough, this campaign was designed by a woman - Mary Wells Lawrence, who used it to launch her own ad agency. It was very unusual for women to own their own agencies at that point - and it still is.

Wow...
any airline that even suggested something like this would cause a fire storm today.

It was after this that Braniff airlines had more male passengers. ;)

@KayDenmark You don't know what you are talking about.
Mary and Harding MET at the Tinker agency. The end of the plain plane campaign sealed the deal !!!
They fell in LOVE and the rest is History.
Only THEN did she form Wells,Rich and Greene !!!
Read her book "A Big Life ", You may find a clue...
Ya big dumb girl.

@electrogeek77 Sorry elctrogeek I meant my last message for the person below you...She doesn't have a clue about Mary Wells.

@electrogeek77 Actually, Honey ;She was already working at the Tinker agency.
That is how she met Harding Lawrence. He came to Braniff from Continental and wanted something to "fill the seats and shake up the Industry",
Like he did at Continental.
Once she and the others unveiled the ad campaign "The end of the plain plane". He was sold.
They fell in love and became a Power couple in the airline ad Industries overnight, THEN came the ad agency which carried her name. Wells, Rich and Greene !
