Watch in HQ if you can. Keep the annotations turned on to see the notes that I have written.

This is my first video tutorial, so I apologize if my notes aren't clear or are somewhat redundant. Feel free to ask questions, I'll try my best to respond to them.

Part 1 covers base layer coloring. The key idea here is to create a new layer for each area that you color.

Program - Adobe Photoshop CS4
Program used to record - Cam Studio
Tablet - Wacom Graphire 4

  • o: How do you keep on colouring without going outside of lines *-*

  • @xFurykTx I use a tablet. It's like the same thing as coloring with colored pencils.

  • How do you make it so the colors dont overlap?

My colors always get darker when i color over...even with the brush on 100% opacity.

  • Make sure you're using photoshop's default, hard brushes. Also, make sure that your brush's flow is at 100 percent. That might fix things.

  • i just dled this program and im stumped how the hell do i make colors even work lol

  • Aw lol. Yeah photoshop does take some getting used to. There's just so many tools, but hey there are a bunch of beginner tutorials out there to help.

  • nice

  • for some reason i find photoshop easier than paint tool sai. I AM SO WEIRD XD

  • photo shop is one of the worst when it comes down to line drawing.

the best programs with inmense line tool quality is manga studio and alias sketch book pro.. check it out.

  • Thanks! Yeah I also have trouble doing lines on photoshop. That's why I tend to work large scale so that when I resize the image, you can't see all the imperfections in the lines.
