www:// www.howtoarchitect.com Doug goes through a typical wall section for the shingle style home he designed and discusses the important aspects of the drawing and what should be described.

  • You have mis-spelt the word ' Foundation ' @ 1:27 , mate - with the inclusion of an extra letter ' i ' . . . . sack the drawing checker , hahah !

Pretty good vids and info though , fella .

  • @steeeveebee Love it! I put these drawings together for the video so quickly it was only a matter of time until that happened. Good eye!

  • Hello Mr. Doug (couldnt find your last name) I wanted to ask you, who do you aske the many questions of which materials to use etc etc. The contractor the client or do you think of it and see if the client likes what you thought of? Your reply would be much appreciated.

    Architecture student.

  • @smg1243 hi smg1243,

i assume you're new to architecture? if you are, it wouldn't hurt to design your own. design your own and your teacher can help you with what you've come up with on your own. but i'm sure you'll be learning about arch. first and get a good knowledge prior to immediately drawing. you've got to start somewhere, yes? if you're wanting to work on an existing plan, just Google "floorplans."

  • I really like these videos, but i have a question. I'm currently a junior in high school reaching the end of the second semester, and i need to create a EA project. i chose architecture, and i was wondering: should i create my own design? or should i recreate a building that has already been made? and if i was to do option two, is there a website that would provide blueprints? thanks to anyone who responds.

  • being an amateur teenager like myself who is thinking of architecture, will college/university teach you about how to include lighting, isolation, water tubes(if needed) and design help? ( stupid question i know, what is college/ university for anyway then?)
