Anesthesia vs Joint Commission

this really needs no explanation! anesthesia involves highly vigilant, one-on-one patient care, and quite a few of the joint commission's recs really seem superfluous. (although the cartoon depicts a multi-titled RN as surveyor, the joint commission is comprised of MDs, RNs, MPHs, etc....it is all in good fun!)

we got dinged for needles INSIDE a sharp box that were not capped or the safety mechanism on the syringe not deployed. Really? Does JC make rules up as they go along? or do they have a quota to meet like the police and traffic tickets?

Last Joint Commission assessment we had, we got dinged for not labeling a syringe that the anesthetist used to draw up medication from the bottle and then directly give to the patient. So this vid it totally accurate!

All these crazy people that regulate the operating rooms need to patients so we can do it their way and let them hurt while we Unlock a cart and two other drawers to get their meds and maybe they even are coding while we unlock for epi.. . all the while their brain is getting less oxygen . . . etc LOL
