Market 5 Gallery's rent is divided in three parts. In addition to rent for the interior space, separate fees are paid for use of the sidewalk for the Saturday craft fair and Sunday flea market. Market 5 has not paid rent for the interior since January 2008 when the interior walls were torn down, phone and electrical wiring was disconnected and the windows were boarded up. We continue to pay for use of the exterior space. We've heard through the grapevine that we'll receive an eviction notice soon for non payment of rent even though we can no longer enter the building.

Anyone that attends EMCAC meetings knows exactly who is behind this entire mess. It's a shame that Fenty continues to allow EMCAC to dictate its will to the city. I hoped he have scruples but he's just like Williams in this regard.
