A delegation of Italian Nursery/Landscapers toured a few cities in the United States in June of this year. TNLA was involved in helping facilitate their visit to Austin. TNLA Staff gave the delegation a tour of the State Capitol, and had them recognized in the House Gallery by State Representative Rick Hardcastle (Vernon). After the tour, Ivan Giraldo, President, Clean Scapes showed the delegation around the Capitol Grounds and explained all the varieties of trees, grasses and shrubs they had installed. The Italian Delegation was familiar with most of the plant material, but did have some questions.
Clint Formby with Native Texas Nursery also served as a host. He provided the delegation transportation all over Austin and then onto Houston. TNLA Staff hosted a reception and dinner at TNLA Headquarters for our Italian friends. It was the first time they had ever eaten chili con queso and fajitas. During the tours, the Italian Delegation also had the opportunity to tour Native Texas Nursery and Austin Tree Farm. Other stops in Texas included TNLA Member's businesses in Nacogdoches and Tyler.
One of the main reasons for the visit by the Italians was to explore the possibilities of exporting Texas plant material to Italy.
