Saqib Ul Islam, Urdu VOA News, Washington
In recent months the specter of Sharia Law has been controversial in America. Some claim that the Sharia is usurping the Constitution and destroying the American way of life. Bills have been introduced in more than two dozen states that would "ban" the practice of Sharia law, despite the fact that Sharia is not a collection of laws but a set of diversely interpreted guidelines for religious practice. In addition, no Muslim American leaders are calling for Sharia to override American laws. Experts say that in this scenario it is important to guide Americans about the basics of Sharia and compare its precepts with those of Christianity and Judaism. In this reports Saqib Ul Islam talks Faiz Shakir of Center of American Progress, who says that it is important for Muslims in America to clear the wrong perceptions and myths about Sharia while Professor Asifa Qureshi of University of Wisconsin Law School and Rev.Welton Gaddy of Interfaith Alliance explained the Sharia, and its impact on Muslim American communities.
It's just going to run around in circles, think about it. If sharia law was legalized, sharia law takes away from your freedom of expression against the religion, which is unconstitutional. Now if its not legalized, they claim its a practice of their religion then that would be unconstitutional. My point of view, Sharia law violates everyone's rights, particulary womans. Sharia law is stupid as hell, I wish they would just grow up and move past Sharia for good and act like an adult
