SOUNDS OF GLOBAL WORSHIP:
INDIA, ASSAM - RABHA TRIBAL PEOPLE

The Rabha tribal people live deep within the jungle regions of Assam. With jeeps and through many small roads and paths we were able to reach their beautiful village.

As the first outsiders to be welcomed by the Rabhas, we were so honored to receive their warm and gracious hospitality. We were met at the entry to their village as they led us in procession with song and dance into their village square (to view this procession see "India: Assam, Rabha 2").

The Rabhas are a humble people who have suffered much from the political violence which has characterized the State of Assam. However, this suffering has helped shape a deep expression of worship to the Lord.

The worship of the Rhabas embody several forms. In this video you find their more traditional song and dance which is used in the celebration of important community events.

LOOK TO JESUS
Lord Jesus make me turn back
From my way and look to You
If you look to the left or look to the right
You will feel weak and you will stumble
But don't look here or don't look there
For only then can you stand

However much our relatives love us
And however much our brothers and sisters may love us
And even if you have no money
We have to not look to the left or right
Even if we cry even if we weep
We must wipe away our tears
And continue to walk after the Lord

Don't leave us as we walk after Jesus
For Jesus we must deny ourselves and die for Him
In the name of Jesus forget everthing
Whether you live or die we must do only one thing
Worship Him Worship Him

One day we have to leave this earth
We even have to leave our home
That day no one can secure us
Because we must leave our house and come outside
Because the call of Jesus comes to us
