Why spend money on software when you can get all this for free!

Why download software illegally when there is plenty of open source software just waiting for you to discover it!

This is a demonstration of the software i use on a daily basis without having to pay for it. To counteract the opinion that Linux is difficult to use, i show how easy it is: i have everything i need.

I use Debian Linux with the Gnome interface and Beryl for cute visual effects and the cube of virtual desktops.

Some useful links:

Software for Linux is reliable, easy to use, enjoyable, legal, and free. Enjoy it! If you do need to run any Windows software, you can always run it using Wine, or use VMware to run Windows inside a virtual machine. You can also dual-boot your computer so you have a choice when you start up, whether you want to load Windows or Linux.

NB. I am not sure whether all the software in this demonstration is open source, but it is definitely all available at no cost. I am willing to help anyone who wants to get started using Linux.

  • @manattan342 i'm sorry, i have absolutely not the slightest clue what you are talking about! but i'm sure linux could do it if you could figure out how to explain it in a meaningful way!

  • Why in the hell do you have ies4linux installed?

  • I had ies4linux installed in order to test web applications in Internet Explorer.

    Why do you ask?

  • thank you for your thought-provoking comment. Er let me think about that for a moment. No, it doesn't. Yes, macs are pretty awesome, but also expensive.

  • "Why spend money on software when you can get all this for free" I've been asking that question professionally since 1998. People just shrug and continue to waste their money.

  • What OS is it?-

  • @manattan342 What? What you said doesn't make any sense. At all.

  • these are random generated letter that are place in the box,s box 1 a-z

    box 2 a-z box-3 a-z

is it possible to see what pc 1 is out puting then take that info and manually in put it into pc 2 then could pc 2 know where pc 1 is going and what pc 1s next out put would be before it comes out

  • do u know of a software that dos these problem

  • i dual boot my pc with linux and windows but i cannot get the wired internet connection working on linux....please help me... i am new to linux..

  • @maw88ify, Yes, the Cintiq one day shall be mine. :) Hmmm, I haven't used 3DS Max in years and I mean years. Almost a decade. Never really liked Maya. The GUI always bothered me, reminded me of little kids toys. Z-brush is fun! I am a really big Blender fan. Which is free and open source. As far as non free I really liked softimage. All my 3Ds skills though are very basic. As far as this video, some basic user don't need to illegal DL photoshop when there is a free alternative.

  • @maw88ify, not really sure about the scripting. Toon Boom pro, maybe? Not sure. I don't do action scripting so I really don't know. Toon Boom pro isn't free, just to be clear. Hmmm. I'll look into the scripting for you. Google has been throwing money at the "wine" project. Adobe CS2 works good for me under wine. Also Adobe is partnering with Google on their OS. Who knows, maybe in a year or two the Flash software will be ported to linux by then.
