I often thought the White Trash Hell EP went undetected even by older Everclear fans today. I started with Everglow (which I did like) and worked my way backwards (well I knew Santa Monica already, but was kinda sick of hearing it, radio does that). Sparkle & Fade has strong tracks though. Then I found World of Noise and it was a revelation.

Yet there was a release that was originally only authorized for the UK. Back then posting on the official Everclear forum, I had some connections and got one sent to me. It was re-released in the States at a time later, but it wasn't approved by the band and I dunno anyway how many or well it sold anyway.

Yada Yada Yada. This EP was put out before Sparkle & Fade. It even has a demo version of Heroin Girl (which sounds for sure like a demo). Anyways this is a really raw EP in the vein of World of Noise and is a precursor to Sparkle & Fade. I couldn't find anything from this on youtube so this is my Everclear contribution. Sometimes I am surprised when what I think was/is popular isn't represented.

So this song rips. There is also a acoustic version of Fire Maple Song on the EP, but the true stand outs are the original songs only found on this EP.

  • Haha I agree with everything you've said. Especially going backward and World of Noise being a revelation. Ok so I was 14 but it still counts. Jesus, that was 10 years ago. How can a dude (Art) go from being so awesome to sucking SO BAD?

Were you on the econline mb?

  • @kimmoxo

Yeah I posted on the Everclear board. I posted a fair amount under Mind's Eye I think. Anyways yeah....World of Noise is still great.

  • @notyoursavior78

I remember you. I'm K.Kay, if that rings a bell. I was really weird and dramatic lol

  • @kimmoxo

hmm yeah that name does sorta seem familiar. Ah the old days of posting at a million different message boards.

  • Please upload Blondes and Pacific Wonderland! They are the only Everclear songs I have not heard! This is my favourite Grungy Everclear song so far! Dare I say.. Better than Nirvana?

  • @mjtheflyboy95

Yeah I loved the old Grungy Everclear, the newer stuff was okay, but Art completely blew off the band with the American Movie albums...it still had good songs, but he didn't even want "his band" in at the time he wrote them.

I gave up on them by Slow Motion Daydream though and so did his original band mates as they left for good. I should upload Pacific Wonderland and Blondes seemed to be fan favorites as well when I would post on the official forums back in the late 90's.

  • I remember having to buy an import version of this album back when I was in high school, probably... 1998? World of Noise and White Trash Hell were my favorite albus by Everclear. I agree though, Art really steered the band in a tragic direction. I think he just started getting happy.... not good for art.

  • @mercurygrrrl The Nervous and Weird EP is especially great.

  • damn you made my night, i used to have this on cd the cover did not look like that though it was like a 2/3 orange and 1/3 white and said 'EVERCLEAR/FIREMAPLESONG had all the same songs ...but this song is one of their best ....so is lame

  • Like them all too, I haven't uploaded Blondes yet.....next?
