I think people need to stop assuming so much things and actually try out things in actuality. Like this technique here - the Sensei is obviously not trying to do the techinique in the most effective way, because if he did, then nobody would be able to see what he was doing because he'd be too fast.
This is a demonstration, and very few techniques are universally useful. Like, if you're too short and/or the opponent is too tall, what then? You gonna try to jump up?

@sanddocon when you yourself know how to kick you know what he will do half a second he does. (he needs to position his front foot before the spinning kick for example)

ya really easy when u know what he will do b4 he does it

@bengir1969 There is no "real Aikido". Every person has its own idea of Aikido so they create a new school with a new way.
Just try to compare Yoshinkan with Aikikai and Tomiki. For instance I train in Aiki Budo which places more emphasis on striking.

here's the thing every time I've seen these aikido strike defense videos the striker is an aikido guy whose' punching or kicking technique is absolute crap, not saying the counter techniques wouldn't work but anyone could pull it off it they were being attacked that sloppily

@bengir1969 Are you positive on that? 'Cause my sensei learned from a direct disciple of Yamada Sensei and I thought he was Japanese.
Note to self: Don't ever try to kick that guy!!
