Windows Movie Maker seems pretty limited in what it can do. It depends how serious you are about making videos. Buying some reasonable editing software is not necessarily that cheap so you'll need to weigh up if the cost is worth it.

Do you know of any wireless device (cheap) that would create an in line beep noise for cameras and multiple recording devices. We can't use a clapboard for feel reason. But we need perfect audio sync recognizable by our editor.

Try putting a spot of fake fur over the microphone.

Great video and good work-around to bypass the legalities. FYI -- I'm using Acoustic Labs Audio Editor $24.95, but plan to buy Acoustic Labs Multitrack Recorder $24.95. Great software for working with audio files. I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio 11 $45, to compile video. I'm somewhat of an inventor. I've seen videos on DIY clapperboard slates and will try to make a slate from scratch video, as soon as I get the materials.

thanks for the tips, I might try this method when using my Canon T2I to record video. I cannot afford a external mic for the camera right now and the built in mic records a lot of extraneous sound with little control. I am not sure if the microphone that I have hooked to my computer is better quality, but I have more controls for it and I can position it.
