Philip Emeagwali — war survivor, supercomputer pioneer, and according to readers of London-based New African magazine, history's 35th greatest person of African descent — has been described by President Bill Clinton as "one of the great minds of the Information Age," as well as "the Bill Gates of Africa." He has been called "a father of the Internet" by CNN and TIME. Emeagwali won the 1989 Gordon Bell Prize, the Nobel Prize of supercomputing.

There was just no way Emeagwali may have dropped out of school because his parents could not pay his tuition. Keep in mind that his parents were civil servants in Akure before the Nigeria war, and that was a middle class family.Though it is difficult to verify who got conscripted during the war, something just tells me he was not drafted into the war.There were still skeletal education services during the war.Education was not completely shut down in Biafra during the crisis.
